Keep in mind, you may need a valid passport number at the time you book flights depending on the airline.
1. Notify your bank to let them know you are traveling internationally. You can do this for most banks on your online banking websites. 2. Review your cell phone plan. Some plans include international roaming, others charge a flat fee per day, others charge based on quantity of calls/texts/data. Be sure to understand what your plan includes so you're not surprised with any hefty cell bills when you return!
Our Outdoor Adventure Wedding will take place rain or shine! So, please pack appropriate rain gear (rain coats, ponchos, umbrellas, etc.) in case they are needed! You can use this link to check the weather and please plan accordingly! https://en.vedur.is/
While we are supplying the adventure wedding excursion and reception dinner for our guests, the remaining costs are the guest's responsibility and should be budgeted accordingly. While total costs will vary for everyone based on length of stay, flights, and car rentals, we've put together a very rough estimate below to help outline the major costs: FLIGHTS - $500-700 CAR RENTAL - $300-500 LODGING - $600-1,000 FOOD & BEVERAGE - $300-600 TOTAL = $1,700 - $2,800 *total cost per person could vary GREATLY depending on whether or not guests share costs / coordinate with others for big ticket items such as shared car rental and lodging costs. For example, a couple sharing a hotel room and car can decrease this estimate to around $1,300 - $2,400
Your safest bet for any kind of credit transactions are VISA or MASTERCARD. In Iceland, a few places accept AMEX and none accept DISCOVER. Bring a DEBIT card. It is safe to have access to more funds. And, the most common gas stations in Iceland called N1 only accept cards with PIN numbers. We recommend having some cash on hand for emergency situations. We never bring a lot. But, $100 or so is always a safe bet. Most airports have stations for currency exchange. In Iceland, their form of currency is the Icelandic króna (ISK). keep in mind, the exchange rate is $1USD for every $126ISK.
Iceland uses the Northern European Electrical Standard wall outlets. You can purchase these outlet converters for plug in items such as phone chargers, laptop chargers, hair straighteners, etc.) The hotels will all have blow dryers and basic amenities included. More detailed information on these can be found here - https://iceland.nordicvisitor.com/travel-guide/information/electricity/
You may be shocked to hear that Iceland has 21 HOURS of DAYLIGHT this time of year! The sunrise will begin around 3:00am and the sunset isn’t until midnight! These long days can be an adjustment to your body. While the hotels are equipped with blackout shades, a sleeping mask, ear plugs, sleeping medicine, or whatever other tips and tricks you have to relax and go to sleep may be helpful!
