How we met

Emma and Hayden’s love story technically began on Hinge… even though online dating wasn’t really either of their things. In fact, friends and family played a not-so-small role in running the accounts that brought them together. Their first date was intentionally low-commitment: frozen yogurt at Yogurtini. Emma figured it was the perfect plan—sweet, casual, and with an easy escape if she didn’t end up liking him. (No long dinner, no pressure best for the both of them.) What she didn’t plan on was losing track of time entirely. From the moment they started talking, it just clicked. What was meant to be a quick stop turned into a two-hour conversation filled with laughs, stories, and the feeling that this wasn’t just another first date. As they talked more, they realized something incredible—their paths had been crossing for years without them ever knowing it. They had been at the same football quarterfinal games, with Emma cheering on the sidelines and Hayden playing on the field. Emma’s family had made countless pit stops in the very town Hayden grew up in while traveling to visit relatives. One of Emma’s sorority sisters even ended up as Hayden’s lab partner in dental school. And as it turns out, Emma’s brother—also in dental school—already knew exactly who Hayden was. After two hours at Yogurtini, it was clear this wasn’t just coincidence—it was timing. From that first frozen yogurt date on, the rest truly is history.

Building Our Future Together

As we look ahead to our next chapter together, we’re excited about what’s coming both personally and professionally. Hayden will soon be starting a new role at Access Health in Lamar, Missouri, a step that means a lot to us and the future we’re building side by side. With this new opportunity, we’re planning a move to the Carthage or Oronogo area, a place that feels like the perfect middle ground for our growing life together. From there, Emma will be able to pursue job opportunities in Joplin, allowing us both to stay connected to the work and communities we care about. This season is all about laying roots, embracing change, and choosing each other in every decision—where we live, how we grow, and what comes next. We can’t wait to see where this journey takes us, and we’re so grateful to have our favorite people cheering us on as we step into this new adventure together.
