Back in 2016, Ashley moved to New York City after finishing her MBA at SUNY New Paltz. After some time, she began working at Hearst Magazines in Midtown Manhattan. By this time, Bart was already living in New York, and he was attending NYU College of Dentistry. Having moved to New York after living in Iowa and Illinois, Bart was looking to experience the excitement of the city life. In a similar manner, Ashley was always fond of a girls’-night out. On a certain fateful night shortly before the Ides of March, Ashley and Bart’s paths crossed at 310 Bowery. After just a few dates, Bart and Ashley had begun a true and inspiring relationship. In several weeks, they even had established a tradition that they continue to this day. Every Friday became an “indulgence day”. Having always appreciated variety and indulging in food, Bart and Ashley dedicated Fridays to enjoying the many places to dine out in New York. Seeing each other was one indulgence, and the meals were another. The couple shared these Friday meals with friends and many were surprised to hear that they continued it well into their relationship. Many months later and during the height of the COVID pandemic, the couple moved to Chicago. The move brought about several changes, but the traditions continued. The couple took on a yellow Labrador Retriever named Daario, who has also contributed his love to the household.

On a sun-soaked evening in the Florida Keys, Bart surprised Ashley and asked for her hand in marriage. Surprised and excited, Ashley said “yes”. Many months later, the couple have planned their wedding and have decided to bring their families and friends together to celebrate their journey together.
