Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Kiana Yutrzenka and Barry Wilson
Alaska has no shortage of adventures. There is enough to do in Homer to keep you busy for 3-4 days. If you have more time I'd recommend visiting: Denali National Park, Talkeetna, Seward, Whittier, and/or Anchorage. This is only a small sampling of some of our favorites. Please feel free to reach out to Kiana for additional recommendations - I can share my Google Maps List and iPhone notes.
Homer Spit

Homer Spit

Homer, AK 99603

This is the place to be in Homer. The downtown area has lots of shops and restaurants. And it's always fun to wander down to the docks and check out all the fishing boats. Almost all the adventures start here - fishing charters, bear viewing tours, water taxis, etc.

The Saltry Restaurant

The Saltry Restaurant

Halibut Cove, AK 99603

Get out on the water for a cruise and an amazing meal. Catch the ferry on the Homer Spit and cruise across the bay to Halibut Cove for lunch or dinner. The Saltry is situated in an extremely picturesque cove. While you enjoy lunch, you can expect to see otters swimming nearby.

Homer Restaurants

Homer, AK

Two Sisters Bakery Eat here. Everything is delicious. The bakery is a short walk from our hotel and the beach - last time I visited we got soup to go and sipped it as we walked along Bishop's Beach. Wild Honey Bistro Across the street from the hotel. They serve sourdough pastries, crepes, and coffee. Fresh Catch Cafe One of my favorite seafood restaurants along the Homer Spit. Make sure to snag a reservation. Kachemak Shellfish Growers Grab a plate of local oysters as you take in the incredible view on the Homer Spit. Fat Olives Pizza Great pizza walkable from the hotel. Use caution when ordering the large - IT'S HUGE. AJ's OldTown Steakhouse & Tavern A Homer Classic. Across the street from our hotel.

Halibut Fishing Charter

Halibut Fishing Charter

Catch some big fish. Homer is famous for its halibut fishing. Many companies offer charters - including our hotel.

Bear Viewing at Katmai

Bear Viewing at Katmai

Katmai National Park, AK

Katmai Nation Park is known for their grizzly bears. Hop on a plane out of Homer for a bear-viewing tour.

Water Taxi + Hiking Adventures

Water Taxi + Hiking Adventures

Homer, AK

Some of the best hiking is accessible by water taxi. Grewingk Glacier is an easy 3-mile, out-and-back trail. Bring a lunch and have a picnic at the lake while looking out at the Glacier. Grace Ridge is a more challenging but stunning hike. It's a 9-mile, out-and-back trail with some of the most incredible views of Homer, Kachemak Bay, and the Gulf of Alaska There are a few companies that offer taxi rides - we have the most experience with Rainbow Charters or Mako's but honestly haven't heard bad reviews about anyone.

Seldovia

Seldovia

Seldovia, AK

This small coastal village is only accessible via boat or plane. This is a quick day trip out of Homer. Stop at the Linwood for lunch and walk the Otterbahn trail.
