Tamia and Barrett met during a long weekend of celebrating a close friend's birthday. Initially, Tamia and another friend were short of many words and Barrett responded to that by asking, "do they not talk?" That prompted a night of laughter and original association between the couple. As the weekend came to an end, Tamia was on her journey to return to Auburn, Al for school. Barrett could not help but to ask for her number and promise to visit "their close friend," in Auburn in the near future (although he was really coming for her). Barrett and Tamia both kept their promises visiting each other every weekend traveling from Auburn to Georgia and vice versa. After months of courting each other, they decided to make it official 04 Dec 2020. The rest was history.

After getting Tamia ready for what she thought was a company Christmas party, we headed to Auburn Avenue where we originally met. Two of our close friends joined us to keep the illusion of a "Christmas party" alive. After a couple of libations, we began our 2 block journey on foot to the venue. On our way, Tamia began complaining of her aching feet (thank goodness she brought sandals). Right as we approached the door, Tamia decided to put her heels back on, which created the perfect opportunity for me to slip away into place as our close friends kept her distracted. To her surprise she opened the door and was welcomed by family, friends, and a plethora of roses and candles. At the end of the walkway, I stood in front of big words that read "LOVE," which signifies the foundation of what our relationship is set on aside from God. This moment has changed our lives forever and we can't wait to celebrate our union with all of you in San Diego, CA!
