We met back in the summer of 2018 when I (Alexis) was convinced by a family friend to work at the Buffalo Wild Wings in East Peoria during my breaks from school and some weekends. Kyle was assigned to train me when I first started, and I thought he was just so cute! After that, I went back to school and Kyle started a different job, but we stayed friends and talked here and there. Then in the spring of 2019, I decided I was tired of just being Kyle's friend and asked him to be my date to my sorority's semi-formal. He said no, but with a very good reason - his best friend (and Co-Best Man) Colton was having his goodbye party before he left for basic training. We stayed friends after that, but eventually, I wore Kyle down to take me on a date to go see Avengers: Endgame. Fast forward to June of 2019, and the roles were reversed because Kyle was now trying to convince me to be his girlfriend officially (which I was hesitant to do since I was about to move to Southern Illinois four hours away for three years)! I finally ended up saying yes to going 'Facebook Official' with Kyle on June 25, 2019. Best decision ever! After I moved to Carbondale for law school, Kyle and I did long-distance for my first year, with Kyle driving down every other weekend to see me, or me driving back whenever I had time to spend 8 hours in the car. After that, Kyle and I moved in together and made some pretty great memories with some fantastic friends and each other. We spent 2 years in Carbondale, and during that time, Kyle and I were talking about getting engaged. I wasn't ready to be engaged while still in law school, but just like when we started dating, Kyle wore me down and convinced me that we could get engaged whenever we wanted. As soon as I gave him the go-ahead to get a ring, he already had something ready. I believe I said I'd be ready to get engaged in August of 2022, and Kyle had a ring by October. Then we were engaged on Thanksgiving of 2022. He moved quickly before I could change my mind! After I graduated in May of 2023, we moved out to Indianapolis for my new job after graduation. We spent 8 months in Indy - with a large chunk of those months including Kyle keeping me as sane as he could during preparation for the Bar Exam, and after while I was waiting for my results. And then once that was all said and done, I told Kyle we would be moving to Chicago in January for another new job! Now, we are finally settled into our new home in the Chicago Suburbs with both of us learning new jobs, and we are ready to get the dang thing done! LET'S GET MARRIED!
