It was a warm spring day and while Maria was preparing to pick up her next tour group from the airport in D.C., Brian was stuck on a plane with 80 middle schoolers... Neither knew what was about to transpire. The very first "Soulmeet Day". "Brian Neuenschwander" he said sticking out his hand, she took it thinking "What a name.." The next week was a whirlwind, trying to make sure no middle schoolers (or parents) were lost or damaged, and that they all left knowing at least one new thing! Brian's incredible way of staying positive, powerful ability of controlling the children while allowing them to believe they still had the freedom to roam, and his beautiful relationship with the Lord were too much for Maria to resist. Maria's small frame was dwarfed by a powerful spirit. Brian found himself impressed by her passion for God, history and care of others. In Maria he saw not only a friend that could stand toe to toe with him, but also a warrior that would stand side by side. Seeing the real Maria made it clear that he needed her in his life. The tour ended and both of us knew that we wanted to remain friends, but not necessarily more. However over months and months of talking, we finally met up (without 80 middle schoolers in tow) and it became clear to both of us, that it was indeed something more, something incredibly special. Over the past 3 years it has become increasingly evident that this is not just something "special", but that God truly has had his hand in it from the beginning and it is He who has brought us together, and who continues to sustain us. To be continued...
