The Milwaukee Public Market is a classic Milwaukee recommendation. Located in the heart of the Third Ward it is a great place to grab a quick bite to eat or enjoy a glass of wine.
If you’re looking for somewhere to go out, this is the up and coming place. Several new bars and restaurants have opened in the past year. As Bucks season ticket-holders, we have been to most, if not all, of the great bars and restaurants in the Deer District.
The Milwaukee Art Museum is a Milwaukee favorite. Famous for its Calatrava, it is a great place to get lost for an hour or a whole day.
Shaker’s is allegedly one of the most haunted bars in the United States. It is also one of the only bars in Wisconsin you can legally smoke in. We have done their 2.0 Ghost Tour several times and enjoy going to the bar for a cigar and a Death in the Afternoon, am absinthe based cocktail.
It wouldn’t be a Milwaukee wedding if we didn’t recommend a brewery. When we lived near the Third Ward, we would often walk to Mobcraft with our dog, Zeke. Although they no longer allow dogs, they do have great pizza and some of the most unique beers in the city.
Foundation is one one of the best tiki bars we have ever been to. We go annually for Sara’s birthday every year. If you’re looking for a flaming punch bowl that will serve four, this is the place.
Tin Widow has some of the best cocktails out there. We frequently go to Tin Widow for a manhattan or an experimental shrub drink. Just ask the bartender and they will make something better than you expected.
While not downtown, Dan would eat here every day if he had the choice. We often go here on Tuesdays for their great taco deal and mariachi band. If you’re looking for somewhere to eat near the airport, this is the right choice.
This is Sara’s favorite restaurant and the restaurant that made Dan like seafood. Not only does the restaurant serve great food, but the bar in the basement has an awesome cocktail hour and great oyster specials.
