We are all staying at Kasianda (House & Villa): https://www.kasianda.com Bedrooms are split between a main house and a guest villa all located on the same property and each with kitchen, living room, and access to the pool and patio. Feel free to peruse the website to get an idea of activities on offer, food menus, and overall vibes. It'll just be our crew at the villa for the week so don't worry about stumbling onto a rando make-out sesh in the spa (unless...).
-- Your flight to Bali. -- Lunch and dinner from Sunday to Saturday, with the exception of Wednesday evening (the day of our ceremony), as we’ll be covering dinner that night. Breakfast will be provided each day at the villa. Check out the Kasianda website to get an idea on meal cost and what's offered. -- Any individual experiences or excursions you’d like to participate in. We’ll be arranging a few optional activities (e.g., cooking classes, rafting) as the date approaches, and you can decide what suits your interests and budget. What we’re covering: -- Airport transportation to and from -- The villa accommodation for the week. -- The ceremony and reception on Wednesday. -- Some entertainment throughout the stay (foam party, etc.). We want this to be a memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone, so if you have any questions or need help with planning, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
Your passport must be active/unexpired for at least 6 months before you arrive in Bali. Most travelers, including those from the U.S., can get a visa on arrival for a small fee (currently about $35 USD). Double-check requirements to avoid any surprises!
We totally get it—vacations are for good vibes and letting loose. That said, Bali—and Indonesia as a whole—has seriously strict drug laws. Recreational substances like cannabis, MDMA, ketamine, psychedelics, or anything else you might pack for a good time are illegal and can lead to severe penalties (think hefty fines or worse). If you’re on prescription meds, no stress—just make sure they’re in their original packaging, clearly labeled, and you’ve got the prescription handy. Double-check that your meds aren’t classified as controlled substances in Indonesia to avoid any hiccups.
Consult your doctor! Bali doesn’t have any strict vaccine requirements for travelers, but it’s always a good idea to stay up to date on routine vaccines (e.g., tetanus, MMR, etc.). As for medication, consider bringing anything you might need for a comfortable trip: - Over-the-counter meds like ibuprofen, antihistamines, or motion sickness tablets. - A small first aid kit for cuts, blisters, or the unexpected (if this makes you feel better, please be assured the staff is well-equipped!) - If you have prescription medication, bring enough for your stay, and keep it in its original packaging just in case.
Bali is warm and tropical in late September with minimal rainfall, so think breezy and comfortable. Average temps are 68-85F. There are a variety of activities available, pack for the ones you'd like to participate in. Definitely bring a swimsuit and sandals! For the ceremony, we're looking for a mix of relaxed sophistication and festive vibes, you should aim to feel stylish but at ease in the Bali setting. Flowy dresses, breezy yet sharp outfits, or even tropical-inspired styles with a touch of glam (like sequins or bold accessories). For reference: we will be wearing white, flapper-like dresses. Leave the stilettos at home - we're looking at you, Josh! (there are 3 Joshuas in attendance, up to you which we are addressing) sandy and grassy venues make wedges or flats your best friend!
Airport arrivals and departures are covered! More info to follow as we receive your flight itineraries. During your stay, cars are available for hire at the venue. Bali doesn’t have public transit like buses or trains, but taxis and ride-hailing apps like Grab are widely available. You can also rent scooters, but only if you feel comfortable navigating Bali’s lively traffic!
We are being so deadass when we say this: your presence is the best gift! Your time and plane ticket there is the most generous gift we could ask for. If you INSIST on bringing a gift, we would absolutely love a handwritten letter, card, or any sort of homemade gift.
Bali uses Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). Cash is widely used, but many places accept credit cards. ATMs are available, but let your bank know you’re traveling to avoid surprises.
Kasianda has a menu with plenty of variety, but let us know in advance if you have specific needs, and we’ll let the staff know so they are prepared to accommodate.
Will update as we get closer to the event! September in Bali is part of the dry season, so you can expect warm, sunny days with temperatures averaging between 77°F and 88°F (25°C to 31°C). It’s perfect beach weather, but the tropical sun can be intense—pack sunscreen, a hat, and light, breathable clothing. Evenings are usually comfortable and breezy, so a light layer might come in handy.
