Delicious Azerbaijani bakery with sweet & savory baked treats and yummy breakfast options too. Is a go-to birthday cake spot for us! And yes they do have coffee. Walking distance from the Line Hotel.

We love popping in here for a cuban coffee and an empanada on the way to the farmer's market on Sunday mornings. This location is closest to the Yours Truly Hotel, but our usual spot is the location near 14th Street at 1405 T St NW.

Tatte Bakery & Cafe

Tatte Bakery & Cafe

1200 New Hampshire Ave NW, Washington, DC 20036

Like most DC residents, Tatte has a chokehold on us. Call us basic, but they just KNOW pastries. Good coffee too. This location is closest to Yours Truly Hotel, but our usual spot is the one on 14th St at 1400 W St NW.

Where to Brunch

If you plan on doing brunch on Saturday, we recommend making reservations at least a week advance! We live in a city full of Type A planners :)

Kramers

Good Eats

Fossette Focacceria

Fossette Focacceria

1250 9th St NW Unit 1, Washington, DC 20001

Located in the Shaw, our old neighborhood, this casual foccaceria has THE BEST mortadella sandwich. It's called the Mortazza, if you have time, GET it, you won't regret it.

Un je ne sais Quoi...

Un je ne sais Quoi...

1361 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC 20036

Looking for a sweet midday treat? Look not further than Un je ne sais Quoi... This little shop has been around for almost a decade and is the closest thing in DC to a true French patisserie.

Doi Moi

Doi Moi

1800 14th St NW, Washington, DC 20009

One of our go-to dinner spots, we can almost always walk in and get a table here. Or even if we have to wait, it's easy to pop over to Aslin Beer Garden. Highly recommend the Shaken Beef, Drunken Noodles, and the Watermelon Mint Daquiri.

Perry's Restaurant

Perry's Restaurant

1811 Columbia Rd NW, Washington, DC 20009

This is our absolute favorite sushi date night spot! It has a spectacular rooftop and an upscale, yet local feel.

Bella's favorite luxury consignment store. You can find some amazing gems here.

What to Do

East Potomac Golf Links

East Potomac Golf Links

972 Ohio Dr SW, Washington, DC 20024

Super relaxed public golf course that's convenient to get to from the city. Offers two 9-hole courses, an 18-hole course, 3 practice holes, a driving range, and mini golf. We love going to the driving range to unwind after work. Serves food and drinks.

Key Bridge Boathouse

Key Bridge Boathouse

3500 Water St NW, Washington, DC 20007

Rent paddleboards or kayaks and check out the sights and monuments from the Potomac River. This boat house also happens to be the start location of Robbie's first (and probably last) ever marathon. Please ask him about how it went.

Meridian Hill / Malcolm X Park

Meridian Hill / Malcolm X Park

16th St NW &, W St NW, Washington, DC 20009

You can find us on the grass in this park on any given sunny day between the months of March - October. We come here to hang out with friends, or have a picnic date, and listen to rhythms of the local drum circle aka the heartbeat of DC.

The Phillips Collection

The Phillips Collection

1600 21st St NW, Washington, DC 20009

We love going here on dates or with our friends. There is currently an awesome Miró and the United States exhibit running through July 5th. Because it is a private collection, it's one of the few museums that are not free, but it is always well worth it!

National Portrait Gallery

National Portrait Gallery

8th St NW & G St NW, Washington, 20001

Right near the Gallery Place-Chinatown metro stop, this is one of our favorites of the Smithsonian institutions. As usual, it's free to enter and it holds some of the most renowned portraits in American history. It also has a very zen courtyard inside, perfect for a coffee and a good book.

National Gallery of Art

National Gallery of Art

6th St & Constitution Ave NW, Washington, DC 20565

We love visiting the NGA and happen to have shot some of our engagement shoot in the West building! Both buildings are fantastic as well as the Sculpture Garden. You can find artworks by Degas, Dali, Miro, Monet, Renoir, Pollock, Twombly and many more. Admission is free.

United States Botanic Garden

United States Botanic Garden

100 Maryland Ave SW, Washington, DC 20001

This is where we got engaged! It's so peaceful to walk around, Bella's favorite part is the tropics house. Completely free to enter and a short walk to other Smithsonian museums on the National Mall.

Smithsonian National Zoo

Smithsonian National Zoo

3001 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC 20008

This was the destination of our almost first date (or should I say meet-cute). Ever since, it has been a favorite daytime date plan of ours whenever there is a sunny afternoon!

Check back for more recommendations as we think of them!
