Since we were young, we've both dreamed of becoming doctors. We both majored in Health and Human Physiology as undergrads, Michael at Southern Illinois University - Carbondale and Maggie at the University of Iowa. We both spent time volunteering with organizations close to our hearts, Michael with St. Jude and Maggie with the Free Medical Clinic in Iowa City. Fate brought us together through the Rural Medicine program at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford. Over the past couple of years, we have spent time volunteering together in the Rockford community and keeping up with our rescue puppy Major. We've been fortunate enough to navigate the tough world of medical school together, through our first set of boards with Step 1, and then starting clinical rotations all across the state of Illinois. We took our last big exam of medical school, our second board exam together, the day after our second anniversary in June 2023. Two days later, Michael got down on one knee and the rest is history! This year is our biggest year yet! We both applied for Family Medicine Residency, the next step in our training. We will be spending the next 3 years in Springfield, MO where we are currently looking for a house and packing to move! We graduate from medical school in April, and are so excited to be getting married on May 18th! After the wedding, we will be getting ready to start our first jobs as doctors together.
