We met in August 2023 and quickly realized that a first date was not nearly enough time. Dinner turned into a movie, and when the night finally came to an end, we sat in the parking lot for another hour, neither of us ready to say goodbye, stretching the evening for as long as we could. From the very beginning, conversation felt easy and natural. The following evening, a misplaced wallet gave us an unexpected reason to see each other again. We ended up sitting on a lifeguard chair at Buckroe Beach long after dark, talking about everything and nothing at all. Somewhere in those hours, what felt exciting began to feel certain. From then on, we were rarely apart. Just a few weeks later, while visiting family in Florida, “I love you” slipped out. Not carefully planned, but just as real. Our relationship has always been built in the quiet moments. In long conversations where one listens and the other talks without ever feeling rushed, and in three small hand squeezes that have meant “I love you” from the very beginning. We are grateful for the ease with which our story began, and even more grateful for the life we continue to build together.
