Our wedding party is made up of some of the very best people we have ever met. We're honored to have such a solid group of people surrounding us and lifting us up. It's made up of our wonderful parents, our older siblings, our sweet niece and 10 of our closest friends. There will never be enough ways to thank them for all they have done for us and our relationship. We owe so much to all of them for loving us so dearly.
I was waitressing at Pizza Hut when my Co-Worker Dillon brought Jeff into the store for a job interview. Jeff sat at the bar and filled out his application while I folded silverware. We made small talk and I honestly didn't think anything of it. When Jeff got up to leave he grabbed a napkin from my stack and folded it into a little paper hat. He asked for a pen and scribbled down his name and number. That night we hung out and had a ridiculously good time singing, laughing and getting to know each other. It was super late but neither of us wanted to go home so we drove to Ameristar. We snuck onto the top floor and sat in front of the huge windows in the hallway, just looking out over Saint Charles and talking about everything under the sun. On our way out we stopped and danced together in the middle of the casino floor in front of 30+ people. After Jeff dropped me off I texted my best friend Tabi that I had found the guy I was going to marry. We spent the entirety of the next year as close friends who were in love but too afraid to tell each other. It took multiple friends confronting us about our relationship for us to admit how we felt and to finally start dating. Four and a half years later and we are still best friends, we are still deeply in love and we are still laughing.
Jeff and I went out to Colorado Springs, Colorado for a little mini vacation in February of 2018. We had tons of plans and a packed itinerary. We intended our first day to be filled with a trip to the top of Pikes Peak. Unfortunately, it snowed so heavily our first day that the road to the top was closed off for safety reasons. For the next few days we traveled around town, hiking mountains, going horse back riding, getting stuck in snow drifts, eating everything we could and even getting matching tattoos! Our trip was incredible and went by way to quickly. Before we knew it, it was our last day in Colorado and the road to Pikes Peak was still shut off. We were heart broken and decided to go get lunch and then head home to Saint Louis. While we were at Rudy's BBQ Jeff suggested we call the park rangers at Pikes Peak and double check the road status before we leave. The rangers said they had just reopened the road but that we'd only be able to make it up the first 11,000 feet of the 14,114 feet mountain. We were super excited and pushed off leaving so we could make the drive up. The roads were full of sharp curves and icy patches. We went as far as we were able to up the steep drive and pulled off to the side of the road. Jeff put our GoPro on, claiming he wanted to get some good shots of the mountain. I was staring out over the edge and turned around to talk to Jeff and he was down on one knee. He was so nervous and so sweet, I didn't even give him a chance to say the words "will you marry me?" before I was crying and hugging him. We cried our whole way home from Colorado, as we talked about telling our families and discussed our futures together. He had been carrying the ring with him everyday of our vacation, waiting for the perfect moment, having his heart set on Pikes Peak. It only makes sense that I agreed to marry him 11,000 feet up when he makes me feel on top of the world every single day.
