What’s a weekend in KC without stopping at Boulevard? The Beer Hall has 3 floors of fun and an amazing gift shop for souvenirs. The tour is fun too! Matt and Bailey love trying new test keg brews at the Beer Hall bar on the second floor.
If you're looking for an outdoor space with tons to do, go to Chicken N Pickle! You can rent pickleball courts or enjoy the giant connect four and cornhole. This is right next to where the reception is so it’s a great option for before or after! Fun Fact: Bailey and Matt went here on their first date! It was 7PM in November so no outdoor games were played. Matt also didn't think it was a dinner date so no food was eaten despite Bailey's growling stomach. To this day, she still questions Matt's mindset when he planned the date. Thank goodness she agreed to a second date which was much better (and involved dinner).
KC obviously has a crazy amount of BBQ options, but County Road Ice House has Joe's KC BBQ and is Bailey's favorite. She gets the house salad + burnt ends. The cornbread croutons are heavenly. They also have fantastic froze and margaritas! Perfect place to go if you feel like scoping out Power & Light.
Union Station is mighty special for many reasons. For Matt and Bailey, it’s where they had their second date and first kiss. It’s also the very place Matt proposed and they shared their first kiss as an engaged couple. Beyond that, it’s a beautiful building with plenty of family friendly activities! We also recommend taking a walk up Liberty Memorial for a great view of the city or jumping on the street car for a free ride all the way through the city and back!
For history lovers, this is a great place to visit! Dedicated World War I Museum inside and a great view of downtown KC on the outside. Bailey and Matt went here on our engagement to get a few photos taken and even voted in the 2020 election here!
For baseball fans, the NLBM is a treat. This museum is one-of-a-kind and opposing MLB teams carve out time during their visits to KC to check it out. It's also housed in the same building as the American Jazz Museum!
