On 7/11/2020 Zane and I hiked up Humpback Rock outside of Charlottesville, VA for a private sunrise elopement. This trail, though incredibly tough (and very windy on this day), comes with amazing views. I knew the first time we hiked it that it would be special to us. The decision to elope was not an easy one but we felt like it was meant for us. Aside from the move to DC, health complications, and the inability to plan a wedding during a pandemic, we struggled with the idea of having a "destination wedding". Because we live so far away, we wanted to be able to focus more on our guests and the time we get to spend with them rather than focus on ourselves and getting married. Eloping beforehand was something we had considered for a while and boy are we glad we chose this path. It is certainly unconventional but it was so whimsical and adventurous. We are excited to celebrate in April with a full ceremony and reception safely without the limits of COVID-19. To read more about our amazing elopement click on the private elopement tab at the top!

Getting to know each other over the past 3 years has been quite the adventure. We met when we were both starting out as young adults, new to the big world around us. Zane had moved to Memphis only a few months before. While dating we found we both had an undying need for adventure and that has been the glue that kept us together while we fell in love. After traveling, camping, kayaking, rock climbing, paddleboarding, and cycling together, we felt like we needed one more in our pack. We adopted an 11 year-old Cocker Spaniel (who is 13 now) and started bringing her on all of our adventures. Almost 2 years later, Zane proposed to me at his family's lake house by the water, with the help of LadyBird. Of course I said yes.
