Bailey and Meaghan met early in the year of 2020. Meaghan was a volunteer for Blacksburg Volunteer Rescue Squad and in her Junior year of college and Bailey was a volunteer for Christiansburg Rescue Squad and starting Paramedic school. They both had seen each other in passing but had never spoken in person. One day, Bailey followed Meaghan on Instagram and she followed him back. Soon after, she received a direct message from Bailey. The conversation led to texting and ultimately a date. Meaghan was traveling between Richmond and Blacksburg and Bailey was traveling between Radford, North Carolina, and Max Meadows for work and school which made finding time to get together challenging. Eventually in May of 2020 they went on their first date.

Bailey picked Meaghan up at her apartment in Blacksburg in his Silverado (Meaghan liked that he had a truck). He took her to Which Wich, her favorite restaurant at the time (its basically a high end subway). The two chatted over their delicious subs and bonded and laughed and eventually Bailey drove Meaghan back to her apartment. Bailey was expecting further conversation in the truck and maybe even a kiss but Meaghan was (and still isn't) very good at goodbyes so she quickly exited the truck once parked saying "thanks for lunch, see ya later!" Bailey thought he would never see her again.

A whole summer had passed since the two went on their first date. They spent a lot more time together over the summer going on numerous dates and hanging out around the house watching movies and binge watching shows. Bailey had helped Meaghan move from her apartment to a duplex home over the summer and Meaghan began her senior year of college. Neither pair of parents knew about the couple yet and Meaghan wanted to make things official but Bailey was nervous that it would change the dynamic of the relationship. Meaghan thought that was silly. On October 7th 2020, during a stargazing date, Bailey asked Meaghan to officially be his girlfriend. Meaghan said yes :)

5 years of growth and love and travel and happiness went by. Bailey became a paramedic and worked in multiple different roles, he joined Blacksburg Rescue, and eventually became a flight paramedic. Meaghan graduated college, became an AEMT, worked for a year, and started medical school. The two never failed to make time for a ski trip, beach trip, or a trip to a cabin in the mountains despite their busy schedules. They had so many fun moments with friends, got to enjoy working a shift together, and supporting each other through all the ups and downs of growing within their careers. The two knew early on that they were end game. Marriage was a topic of discussion in the first year of dating. They continued to put in the time of getting to know each other and helping each other grow together and when the time was right, Bailey proposed.

Bailey went to shop for a ring in March 2025 and bought the most beautiful ring Meaghan could've ever asked for. Meaghan had no idea. In April of 2025, Bailey asked both of her parents for their blessing over a home cooked meal of spaghetti while Meaghan was at choir practice. She again, had no idea. In June of 2025, Bailey made a game time decision to propose. He decided, made the plan, and executed the plan all in the span of one day in order to prevent Meaghan from being able to figure out his secret plan. For those of you who know Meaghan, nothing gets by her. She is intuitive and observant and so keeping things secret is a challenge. Meaghan picked up on subtle details like a change in Baileys voice, the way he packed a bag for a hike, and noticed text messages from people he would not communicate with. The two went for a sunset hike at bald knob and Meaghan had suspected the outcome of this hike the entire way up. At the top, when the sunset was at its peak and Meaghan was looking at some cows through binoculars, Bailey got down on one knee. Meaghan turned around to find Bailey asking her to marry him and even though she suspected a proposal, she was still surprised. Meaghan said yes and the two shared happy tears and discussed their future over a bottle of champagne and a beautiful sunset.
