Enjoy coffee/pastries in the historic town of Georgetown.
Loveland Pass is a high mountain pass in the Rocky Mountains reaching an elevation of 11,990 feet on the Continental Divide, between Denver and Keystone. It's known for its scenic, winding road with hairpin turns, making it a popular, year-round alternative to the Eisenhower tunnel! The pass is named after William A.H. Loveland and offers stunning views, but requires caution due to steep grades and winter weather, with frequent closures and chain requirements. (Please know how to engine break if going up!)
A point along the Guanella Pass Scenic Byway and home to a historic mining ghost town, this great hiking trail is located just above Georgetown, Colorado high up in the Rocky Mountains.
Feeling lucky? Take a gamble at the casino strip! 20-25 min from hotel-
A little further from Dillon at about 25 minutes is the town of Breckenridge. (Ride the alpine coaster at the Breckenridge Fun Park, Hiking, Breweries, Shopping and dining.)
The Breckenridge Troll, AKA Isak Heartstone is one of the state’s largest man-made tourist attractions. (15 feet tall!) Visiting the troll is free to the public. It can be a bit tricky to get to the troll as parking nearby is sparse, but you can walk from downtown Breckenridge. Once you get to the trailhead, it’s just a short hike to see Isak. (This is about a 30 minute drive from Dillon)
Sapphire Point Overlook is a quick walk from the parking lot. It’s relatively accessible for most, with a flat gravel trail to the overlook. The entire Sapphire Point loop trail is just .6 miles so it’s a perfect walk to see the overlook and then more views of Lake Dillon.
