5 years flew by

Nos conocimos en vacaciones, que gran sorpresa, mientras visitábamos a nuestros padres durante las vacaciones de invierno. En nuestra primera cita fuimos a una exhibición de arte al aire libre y hablamos hasta que cerraron. Después, decidimos comer algo y cerramos ese bar también. A pesar de una cita de 8 horas, comenzamos a planificar la próxima vez que nos íbamos a ver, emocionados por conocernos más. Esa emoción no ha disminuido despues de casi 8 años. Estos primeros 5 años de matrimonio han sido un sueño intencional, construyendo hacia la vida que queremos el uno para el otro. No tuvimos una gran boda y, en cambio, compramos nuestra primera casa. Ahora queremos celebrar no solo a nosotros mismos sino también a la comunidad de personas que nos aman y nos ayudaron a convertirnos en los hombres que somos hoy en dia. El carnaval puede parecer un destino inesperado para la mayoría, sin embargo, es la mayor celebración del amor, la humanidad y la diversidad; un ejemplo perfecto de la comunidad a la que queremos contribuir. El sentimiento atrevido y caluroso que proviene de nuestras raíces tropicales es algo que nos encantaría compartir contigo como símbolo de amabilidad. El Carnaval de Barranquilla es el comienzo de una nueva temporada, marcada por los solsticio de verano, al igual que estos primeros 5 años de nuestra eternidad. ¡Celebremos! Now let's do it in English :) We met on vacation, big surprise, while visiting our parents during winter break. Our first date we went to an outdoor art exhibit and talked until they closed. After, we decided to get a bite to eat and closed that establishment too. Despite an 8 hour date, we started planning the next time we were going to see each other, excited to get to know each other more and more. That excitement has not faded almost 8 years later. These first 5 years pf marriage have been an intentional dream, building towards the life we want for each other. We did not have a big wedding and instead bought our first home. Now we want to celebrate not only ourselves but the community of people who love us and helped us become the men we are today. Carnival might seem like a random trip to most however it is the greatest celebration of love, humanity, and diversity; a perfect example of the community we want to contribute towards. The boldness and warmth that comes from our tropical roots is something we would love to share with you as a symbol of kindness. Barranquilla's Carnival is a beginning of a new season, marked by the summer solstices, much like these first 5 years of our forever. Lets celebrate!
