How we Met!

At 11:30PM on the evening of May 18, 2019, Sarah was performing her nightly ritual of scrolling through Hinge, the online dating app she had been using on and off for years with mild success. She had just been out all day celebrating her 35th birthday surrounded by lifelong friends, but despite this, she felt a bit lonely going to bed that night. She saw a message from yet another potential suitor who called her "Small Fry" based on the tidbit Sarah had provided in her profile that she knew "the best place in town for french fries" (spoiler- she does). Fast forward a few days, and Sarah was meeting that suitor named Chris at a fancy new rooftop bar for first date #150 (an approximation, but likely accurate). He was wearing a leather jacket, had long-ish hair, and didn't buy her first drink (he DID buy the second), but despite these "red flags" she found herself thinking about him the next day. In fact, she even told her Mom that she had "never been out with someone who talks more than I do!" and that he was "definitely not boring", unlike the man she went out with the next night on first date #151. Meanwhile, Chris was performing an experiment of his own. Always the data scientist, he had set up four first dates in a row, Wednesday - Saturday, all with the exact same variables: same rooftop bar, same time, same cocktails, probably even the same outfit! The only variable that was different: the woman. Sarah had the unfortunate position of being Wednesday night, with three women following her the next three nights, but she must have left an impression on Chris because the following week they went on date #2. Chris showed up with his water bottle in hand (which Sarah would soon learn was an extension of his arm), a fresh haircut, and no leather jacket. Sarah was wearing tight white jeans ('nuf said). They ate tacos, swapped stories, laughed a lot, and made out in a semi-hidden walkway between 3rd and 4th streets downtown. It was ON! Fast forward three years, and here we are, getting married! There have been lots of challenges (the pandemic, family sickness, bike accidents, loss of a beloved pet...just to name a few!), but there have also been road trips, hiking adventures, beach vacations, new cats, and countless nights spent talking - and laughing! In our experience, love is not blind, nor is it easy, but it sure as hell keeps life interesting and full, and is absolutely worth it. Thank you to everyone who has helped us get here and will continue to support us for a lifetime. We can't wait to celebrate with you!

For all the days along the way
