Love at first sight is a saying that is known well by all, however, how many people can say they fell in love in kindergarten? Megan and Alex met the first day of school in Mrs. Meyer's kindergarten class. Wolsey, SD - 375 Ash Street - became the spot Megan and Alex saw each other every day. They played at recess, sang together at elementary concerts, and partnered up for class projects. When the two became older, they realized they had more than just a friendship connection. Finally, in the eighth grade, Alex asked Megan to be his girlfriend. From there, they went on dates, celebrated anniversaries (ask Alex about the salmon), and made a lot of memories. They have supported each other in high school sports and academics, cheered on one another in college, and are now wrapping up their degrees. After six (long) years, a ring came and now a wedding is on its way! There is no doubt that the love story of Megan Robinson and Alex Babcock is a special one.
On a summer day in August, after months of planning, Alex asked Megan to be his fiance. This day came after six years filled with love (and patience). Alex had followed some perfectly written instructions on ring buying that Megan had placed in an "open when" letter from their 5 year anniversary. When the ring came in, it came down to picking a date. Ashley, Megan's sister, was called upon for assistance. Working together, they gathered all of Megan's closest family and planned a camping trip. Ashley, Grandma Leann, and Megan's cousin Summer decorated the beach and waited for Alex to arrive at the campground. To Megan's knowledge, Alex was busy with his family and that was why he couldn't come on the final camping trip of the season. Little did she know, he was driving to Oahe Downstream Campground to ask her a very important question. When Alex arrived, he waited at the beach for Megan to be escorted down there. She certainly did not make things easy. Ashley insisted they should go for a walk to go "see an otter" swimming in the river. After Megan said the otter would be gone, Ashley then suggested walking their dog, Champ. Megan once again questioned the idea until her dad told her to go on a walk with her sister. Getting Megan down to the beach while keeping things secret was a challenge, but eventually she made her way down to the beach with Ashley and Champ. Mom and dad slowly trailed behind them, because they knew what would be coming next. On the walk, Megan started to notice signs. She looked over at Ashley and told her they should turn around. She insisted she didn't want to interrupt someone's big engagement. Ashley looked at Megan and said, "Megan, what do you think is going on? Get down there!" After a long, slow walk, Megan approached Alex and he got down on one knee. He asked her the most important question she'd ever been asked.. and guess what? She said yes of course!!
On a spring day in 2017, Megan, her mom, and her sister went dress shopping in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The ladies were not expecting to find a dress that day. The plan was to get an idea of what Megan liked. It is crazy to walk into a dress store; all you see are white dresses everywhere. Quite frankly, everything really looks the same. How on Earth can you decide what to pull? Luckily, they had a super nice bridal attendant working at their side. Only about five dresses were pulled. All were beautiful! Megan was put into the first dress and Ashley fell in love. Megan put on the second dress and Ashley fell in love. Megan put on the third dress and Ashley fell in love. After that, Ashley decided she really needed to focus more on the details. The ladies worked together finding what Megan loved and felt she would look perfect in on her special day. That day a dress was found, and the best part, Megan, Mom, and Ashley fell in love.
