We met for the first time at Foothills Brewery in downtown Winston-Salem, NC. We were not sure what to expect from this first meeting but we ended up spending hours talking about life, values, and interests. Despite growing up in different parts of the country, we realized we had many experiences and priorities in common. We continued to date despite the distance between VA and NC. We spent our weeks FaceTiming and planning our weekend adventures together hiking, attending concerts, and finding good trees to hang our hammocks. We finally lived in the same town during the summer of 2017 and enjoyed a fun road trip to Florida, an adventure with the Hartman Family to Disney, day trips to Carolina beach, and more. At the end of that sweet summer, Meghan moved to Durham to pursue her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Duke. Shortly after, Ross graduated with his MBA from Wake Forest. He was happy to be done with classes and leave the late night studying to Meghan. In October, Ross planned a lovely date for our dating anniversary. Meghan had a lot going on in school with midterms and made him promise he would not propose on our anniversary and he kept his word. The day after, we planned to hang out with family at the new Quarry Park in town. When my family claimed to be running late we walked out onto the overlook and Ross took a knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. I was so surprised I forgot to say yes! Immediately after the proposal, we drove to my sister's house where Ross had the whole Babcock family waiting together under the guise of a surprise birthday party for Meghan. Everyone was excited to learn we were engaged and to celebrate with us. In the months since our engagement, we have continued to learn and grow as individuals and are looking forward to starting our lives together as [Hart]man and wife. We would be honored to have you be a part of our celebration!
