The way we met was and will always be a happy coincidence to me. What started out as a regular day for me turned out to be one of the most important moments in my life. I was picking up the final payment for a lighting job I had finished for the owner of Goodwins. I had done a couple of jobs for him and other clients that had investments in that neighborhood. Funny now that I think about it, I had never noticed her house until that day. I remember that I had finished rehabbing a house not too long ago and I wanted to see what had become of it. Slowing down for the second speed bump, from the corner of my eye, I noticed HER. The most beautiful young woman I had ever seen. She seemed to be watering plants or something because there were sparkles of light surrounding her, perhaps as the sunlight caught the misting water. In any case, in that brief moment, something happened where I simply lost my composure. Now, not in a deer caught in a headlight way (like most guys who see a beautiful woman), but in a deeply moving way. No, but in a way where I knew by the next speed bump, I had to meet her. As I made my way back to her house I lost any sense of what to say. I park my truck, got out, and headed towards her door. My heart is racing and I'm telling my self I can do this. I knock. After a slight pause, I see her approach the door. As she opens the door and softly says "Hi", my words failed me. In that moment, any mac game I could have said just wouldn't do. So I went for the business approach. I left my business card and said goodbye. She never called. Three months went by. I received a call to give an estimate on a gate. As I pull up to the address, I recognize her house. Her father greets me and shows me the job. One job leads to the next, and as I am working on his shower, a friendly face pops in asking if I needed water. The rest is history. So much was left out, but ask me on our wedding day, and I'll spare no details.
