In September 2023, Esmond and Suashi met on the Facebook Dating App. At the time, Esmond was in D.C. for a work trip and Suashi was settling into life post residency in the metro Detroit area. Esmond recalls that he was drawn to her profile as a few of her pictures had a pretty smile and Suashi remembers that his answers to the profile prompts put a smile on her face. They swiped right on each other, and soon after exchanged phone numbers. They planned Suashi's first trip to Esmond's hometown of LA in January 2024. Suashi remembers, she had the first date butterflies during the flight to California, but within a few minutes of meeting him at the airport, she instantly felt like she was in the company of a long-lost friend. Other than Esmond being shocked by their very real height difference (she is 5'5" and he is 6'7"), Esmond can recall his excitement to finally meet her and introduce to her to his family and friends. From that trip in early January, they have been inseparable across states, time zones and major life events. Esmond proposed on a Sunday evening in January 2025, and soon their familial introduction followed, starting the processing of unifying two families. Both of us are so excited to celebrate with you in April as two become one!
