We're requesting "western" formal attire - which basically sits in between black tie and semi-formal - meaning we want you looking and feeling your best, but it doesn't have to be over the top and feel free to have fun with western accessories if that's your thing! For the Ladies: Midi to floor-length dresses or dressy jumpsuits are great options! Please keep in mind that the ceremony and cocktail hour will be on lawn, so we suggest block heels or booties/boots. There is also a decent walk down the driveway from the ceremony site to the reception site. For the Lads: We suggest wearing a suit, but slacks with a long sleeve button-down is also acceptable (see the reference photos). Feel free to wear light or dark colors and this is tie-optional. Dress shoes, boots, or dressy sneakers are all great options for shoes. Our "No-No's": Please no short dresses, jeans, or casual sneakers. Still confused by what formal attire means? We are encouraging guests to wear fall colors and earthy tones, and feel free to have fun with western accessories if you'd like - but by no means is this necessary! We just want you to look and feel your best and be ready to party all night, so if boots, bolo ties, or a cowboy hat will help you do that, then rock 'em! Just a note, the bridesmaids will be wearing chocolate brown if you want to avoid matching them (not required). If you want some outfit inspo, check out this Pinterest board!
San Luis Obispo typically has beautiful weather in October, so we're hoping it will be nice and warm during the day (mid-70s), but we expect the temperature to drop decently after sunset (mid-50s). Because of this, we suggest bringing a jacket, sweater, or shawl to stay warm. Our ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner will be held outdoors and the dancing will take place inside the barn.
