On September 29th, 2023, our two worlds collided at Felton Music Hall. It was a Friday night and the vibes were high, and we both happened to be there to see Zach Top and Steel Woods. Boots were stomping, drinks were flowing, and with a little encouragement from a friend (shoutout Nathan!) and perhaps some liquid courage, Mack asked Cass to dance and she didn't hesitate to say yes. We spent the rest of the night dancing and went on our first date a few nights later. That first date at Sugo was a date we'll both remember forever. Mackenzie was impressed by Cassidy's fit - especially her black platform heels that are still his favorite to this day - and Cassidy knew he had major potential when he was down to share a couple dishes instead of ordering our own - something she still insists on every time we go out. Conversation flowed like we'd already known each other for a lifetime and being together felt so natural and easy from the very beginning. We've counted that day, October 3rd, 2023, as our anniversary because there was no looking back for either of us after that first date. From there things moved pretty quickly for us! We spent the holidays together meeting each other's families, celebrated birthdays together getting to know each other's friends, and went to more concerts whenever we could. In April, 2024 (after 6 months of dating), we traveled across the world for a two week trip to Bali with a group of friends. This trip significantly sealed the deal for us. It wasn't just getting through the 24-hour travel days or navigating the unknown streets of a foreign country together, it was truly enjoying every moment together and realizing how much we love experiencing life by each other's side. We not only got to share our highest highs, but we also supported each other through our lowest lows - Cass threw out her back before leaving for the trip and Mack got salmonella when we got home (double yikes!!). At this point we knew we could count on each other to get through whatever life throws our way, so we decided to move in together at the end of May 2024 and found our perfect little place in Midtown. Since then, we've continued prioritizing travel and adventures while still enjoying some evenings at home cooking meals together and taking our good boy Bodhi for walks in Arana Gulch. We truly love the life we've built together - whether it's jumping out of an airplane in Oahu, enjoying countless family dinners, planting a garden in our backyard, going out with our friends, blasting music on our ski boat, skiing in Sun Valley, or just reading in bed together before we go to sleep - we feel so lucky to have each other through it all.. which is why on June 28th, 2025 Mack got down on one knee at a beach up in Davenport to ask if we could lock it in for life and, with zero hesitation, Cassidy said yes to forever! Now we look forward to our wedding day as a wonderful opportunity to celebrate with all of the people we love and appreciate most, and to officially commit our lives to each other.
