Question

How do I get to Fire Island if I'm flying in?

Answer

If you are flying in and heading to Fire Island straight from the airport, we suggest you fly into JFK. Once at JFK, you can either 1) take the LIRR (Long Island Railroad) from the Jamaica train station to the Bay Shore train stop or 2) Uber directly to the Bay Shore ferry terminal at 104 Maple Avenue, Bay Shore NY. If you take the train to the Bay Shore train stop, you will then head to the ferry terminal located at 104 Maple Avenue. The ferry terminal is about a mile from the Bay Shore train station and there is a $5 shuttle between the two. You can also Uber from the station to the terminal or walk (20 min walk).

Question

Where is the ferry to Ocean Bay Park located?

Answer

The Fire Island ferry port for Ocean Bay Park is located at 104 Maple Avenue, Bay Shore, NY. If you're unsure, don't be afraid to ask if the ferry is going to Ocean Bay Park! We will also have a logistics coordinator stationed at the ferry on Friday to help direct people.

Question

Can I park my car at the Bay Shore ferry station?

Answer

Yes, there is valet parking at the Bay Shore ferry terminal and you can park your car for the weekend for a fee.

Question

How often does the Fire Island ferry run?

Answer

To view the ferry schedule, please visit https://fireislandferries.com/schedules/ocean-bay-park . This schedule will update every few months, but generally ferries run every 2-3 hours in September, with the first ferry leaving at 7am and the last leaving at 8pm. Please budget plenty of time to get to the ferry; if you are flying in, we recommend arriving in the morning or early afternoon to allow ample time to get to the ferry.

Question

Do I need to purchase a ticket to ride the ferry?

Answer

Yes, you can purchase tickets on the "FI mTickets" app (recommended) or at the ferry terminal. Tickets cost $13. Please make sure your ticket is from Bay Shore to OCEAN BAY PARK.

Question

What happens if I miss the last ferry going to the island?

Answer

If you miss the last ferry going to the island, there are water taxis available for purchase. However, water taxis are not recommended as they can be quite expensive. Please call (631) 665-8885 to reserve your water taxi.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

Unfortunately, we are at capacity and will not be allowing plus ones, unless they are explicitly named in your invite.

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP as soon as possible! We recommend booking your accommodations ASAP, as lodging on Fire Island is limited and regular FI-goers tend to book far in advance. We want to ensure our guests have first pick on potential beach house rentals, if that's of interest to you!

Question

Is there an option to come just for the ceremony and reception?

Answer

Of course! If you can only make it for the day on September 19th, we will feel so lucky to have you! You can take the ferry from Bay Shore in the morning and back in the evening - we will also have Water Taxis leaving from the reception back to Bay Shore for those not staying the night, or lodging at hotels on Long Island.

Question

If I'm staying in a house rental, where can get groceries?

Answer

We highly advise you to get groceries delivered if you are renting a house; the markets on Fire Island are extremely overpriced and limited in the off-season. You can order grocery delivery to your house beforehand using any of the following: FOOD/ALCOHOL DELIVERY: Some Bay Shore business who deliver to the ferry: White Cap Fish Market - (http://whitecapfish.com/) King Kullen: https://kingkullen.com Frank and Maria's (https://www.frankandmarias.com/fire-island) has meats and other groceries. Brightwaters (https://www.brightwatersbeverage.com/fire-island-deliveries.html) liquor/beverages West Islip Wines and Liquors (https://westislipwines.com/fire-island/) wine/liquor Islip Cold Beer (www.islipcoldbeer.com) offers free delivery to the ferry Most of the above can be delivered to the freight ferry next day, then you meet the freight ferry in OBP and pick it up
