There are no cars on Fire island! The only way to get here is to take the FERRY. Please make sure to plan your travel time in consideration of traffic. The boats are 2-3 hours apart. DON'T MISS THE FERRY!! This is a useful site: https://fireislandferries.com/info/planning-your-trip Please Note: OUR WEDDING IS LOCATED IN OCEAN BAY PARK, FIRE ISLAND, NY. Do NOT take the ferry to Ocean Beach. Many locations on Fire Island will direct you to Ocean Beach when using Google Maps. Please double-check your directions and make sure you are traveling to Ocean Bay Park. Ocean Beach is a different ferry terminal and different ferry route.
The Fire Island ferry port for Ocean Bay Park is located at 104 Maple Avenue, Bay Shore, NY. If you're unsure, don't be afraid to ask if the ferry is going to Ocean Bay Park! We will also have a logistics coordinator stationed at the ferry on Friday to help direct people.
To view the ferry schedule, please visit https://fireislandferries.com/schedules/ocean-bay-park . This schedule will update in August for the September schedule, but generally ferries run every 2-3 hours in September, with the first ferry leaving at 7am and the last leaving at 8pm. Please budget plenty of time to get to the ferry; if you are flying in, we recommend arriving in the morning or early afternoon to allow ample time to get to the ferry. Yes, you can purchase tickets on the "FI mTickets" app (recommended) or at the ferry terminal. Tickets cost $13 one way / $25 round trip. Please make sure your ticket is from Bay Shore to OCEAN BAY PARK.
DON'T MISS THE FERRY!!!! Give yourself at least 20 minutes before getting on the boat. If you do miss the ferry, there are water taxis available for purchase. Water taxis are $300. Please call (631) 665-8885 to reserve your water taxi.
If you are flying in and heading to Fire Island straight from the airport, we suggest you fly into JFK. Once at JFK, you can either 1) take the Airtrain to the LIRR (Long Island Railroad) from the Jamaica train station to the Bay Shore train stop or 2) Uber directly to the Bay Shore ferry terminal at 104 Maple Avenue, Bay Shore NY. If you take the train to the Bay Shore train stop, you will then head to the ferry terminal located at 104 Maple Avenue. The ferry terminal is about a mile from the Bay Shore train station and you can either take an Uber or David Brothers Shuttle from the train station to the ferry terminal. David's fare is $6.50; an Uber is usually around $10.

Yes, there is valet parking at the Bay Shore ferry terminal and you can park your car for the weekend for a fee. There are Parking Attendants at the OBP ferry dock and it can get very crowded. Please allow at least 15 minutes to get a ticket, park, and board the board.
Unfortunately, we are at capacity and will not be allowing plus ones, unless they are explicitly named in your invite.
Please RSVP by June 26th - because the nature of the event, it helps us a ton to RSVP early!
Of course! If you can only make it for the day on September 19th, we will feel so lucky to have you! You can take the ferry from Bay Shore in the morning and back in the evening - we will also have Water Taxis leaving from the reception back to Bay Shore for those not staying the night, or lodging at hotels on Long Island.
Ceremony and reception will be adults-only events
The weather can be unpredictable! Bring layers: A light jacket, sweater, or wrap is recommended for the evenings. Shoes - Stilettos are not recommended! A wedge or chunky heel is a better shoe for the beach environment. Rain: If the forecast looks bad - We have rain plans in place but please bring proper rain gear jacket, umbrella, even boots.
There are very small (typically expensive!) bodegas on the island for essential. There is one in Ocean Bay Park, Seaview, and Ocean Beach. Ocean Beach has a few more restaurants but check if they are open before going!
