For those of you wondering, Alli made the first move. Alli commented on a post about travel on Nick’s profile, which quickly led to us making plans to meet up at a Christmas pop-up bar. Nick suggested taking a photo together before the end of the date, which Alli thought was a little weird, but agreed anyway (see said photo below). Little did we know that it would be the first of a lifetime of photos. Alli quickly learned of Nick’s genuine kindness, his positive impact and consideration of those around him, and how terrible he is at quoting movie lines and song lyrics. Nick learned of Alli’s appreciation for the little things, the importance of understanding the perspectives of others, and just how little she knew about football. Not only are we obsessed with each other, we adore each other’s families as well. Every day gets better and better and our love deepens more than we could have thought possible. We even love sitting on the same side of the booth at restaurants 😱. A lot of these sentiments sound cliché and cringe, and we probably would have rolled our eyes or made the gagging motion at us a year ago. Nick even quoted the classic “Notting Hill” line in reverse (I’m just a boy, standing in front of a girl…”) when he proposed to Alli, but he of course got the line completely wrong. What’s amazing about love though is that you just don’t care. It revives what was cliché and makes it beautiful. There are certain behaviors or aspects of our relationship that we once thought “I will never do or be like that.” But we do and we are and it’s the best damn feeling in the world.
