FAQs

The Wedding Website of Roshini Srinivasan and Ganesh Venkataraman
Question

Where is the ceremony?

Answer

All events will be held in (or just outside) the Grand Ballroom of Days Inn and Suites Richfield, 4742 Brecksville Rd, Richfield, OH 44286.

Question

Is there a reception?

Answer

The Wedding day will consist of breakfast, the ceremony, and lunch - no reception for now!

Question

What time should I arrive?

Answer

In time for the food, of course! Bear in mind, however, that the most important time during the Wedding is the Muhurtham, so please make sure you are present for this part.

Question

How/when can I RSVP?

Answer

No hard deadline for this one, as we're planning for lots of food. Please just let us know as soon as you can, and reach out to Roshini, Ganesh, or Srinivasan and Vasanthi to RSVP.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Your colorful-est, bright-est, joyful-est outfit! A rainbow of colors is welcomed, but/and/or please wear what you feel most happy and comfortable in!

Question

What shoes should I wear?

Answer

Guests will likely not be on their feet for a long period of time - so, the suggestion here is to be comfortable in your choice, but you would be fine in your favorite heels! You will also have the option of taking your shoes off should you so desire.

Question

If I'm looking for accommodation, where should I stay?

Answer

We have rooms blocked at the venue (Days Inn and Suites) itself. If booking with them, call (330) 659 - 6151 and mention "Srini Wedding" to reserve your room(s) at the discounted rate.

Question

Is there parking available at the venue?

Answer

Yes. Plenty.

Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

Certainly. Just let us know.

Question

I am unable to attend, but I'd like to give a gift. What should I do?

Answer

Thank you for your generosity! If you'd like to give a gift but cannot attend, reach out to Roshini, Ganesh, or Srinivasan and Vasanthi (if you're wanting to make it a surprise) and we'll arrange it with you.

Question

I've never been to a South Indian wedding. What should I do?

Answer

Make yourself at home and celebrate with us. As Tamil Hindu weddings go, many of the rituals and events involve the participation and/or attention of the guests. Once we find our way into the Grand Ballroom, please find a comfy seat to enjoy and be a part of the proceedings. You are welcome to quietly chat with others now and then, move seats if you need to, and grab some coffee/tea almost anytime; just be mindful and respectful and keep an eye out for when silence and attention (and your blessings!) are requested.

Question

Can you give a framework for the morning's events? (1)

Answer

Breakfast will be from 7:30 to 8 or so, and you can join us any time during this window. After breakfast, we will move into the Kashi Yatra outside the Ballroom. "Kashi Yatra" approximately translates to "pilgrimage to Kashi," in which the groom decides to embark on a monastic journey to Kashi. In a humorous, but profound exchange, the bride's father convinces him that married life and family life are equally sacred, and that he must not renounce his worldly responsibilities out of fear. The bride's father offers his daughter's hand in marriage to the groom, and the fun continues with the exchange of garlands by the bride and groom and traditions with the couple seated on a swing ("Oonjal"). The Wedding then moves into the marriage hall (in our case, the Grand Ballroom).

Question

Where can I read more about the general wedding agenda?

Answer

We will have a detailed program for you during the wedding. Some wonderfully thorough website links are as follows (note that we are not having the engagement ceremony or reception during our wedding): https://www.esamskriti.com/e/Culture/Ceremonies/Iyer-Wedding-Rituals-Are-A-Timeless-Ode-to-Tradition--1.aspx http://eventree.events/the-tamil-iyer-wedding-rituals/

Question

Do you have a wedding hashtag?

Answer

A? No. Two hashtags? Yes! #AvalumAvanumKalyanam #RandGmeanttobe
