ABOUT MATERA One of the oldest cities in the world and a UNESCO site, Matera is an ancient city of stone walls known for its breathtaking Sassi cave dwellings and timeless charm. Travel & Accommodation - IMPORTANT: We recommend arriving to Matera on June 24th to settle in before the Welcome Aperitivo on June 25th. We will provide shuttle service between Matera and the venue on the wedding day, with pickup on Via Fiorentini. For the easiest experience, we recommend booking a hotel on or near this street. Matera’s historic center is beautiful but full of stairs and only walkable for tourists, so staying nearby will make your trip more convenient! Please note: There are no Ubers or equivalent in Matera. Taking the shuttle provided by us will be the easiest way to go to and from our venue. If you prefer to rent a car please consider that there is no parking in the historic centre of Matera. Here are our recommended hotels!:

Flight

How to get to Matera

The closest airport to Matera is Bari (BRI). The easiest option is to fly into Rome (FCO) and take a short connecting flight to Bari. Alternatively, you can also reach Bari by flying from other European cities (e.g., Lisbon, Paris, or London). From Bari Airport, it’s about a 45 minute shuttle to Matera.
