Grace Ridge Trail is a gorgeous hike that is clearly marked, and has beautiful views from all points of the trail, so the whole family can enjoy their hike. Guests would have to take a water taxi across the bay -I would recommend Makos Water Taxi (their number and address is linked to this post) but any are great- to the trailhead, but it's totally worth it for the special climb :)
The entire Spit is wonderful for new Homer visitors to check out, but for shopping, the Salmon Sister's shops (both the one on the end of the spit and the one on the base of the spit), AK Starfish, The Better Sweater and Salty Girlz are some good options!
If you want to check out the Homer Disc Golf Course, just text (907) 299-9481! We have plenty of discs for our interested guests to borrow :)
If you want to delve farther into town we recommend Homer's Jeans, Homer Saw and Cycle, Save U-More Grocery, Alpha Kilo Metalworks, Woda Botanicals, Nomar, and the Gear Shed for some Homerite staples.
Firstly, we'll start with suggestions for the Spit. The linked address is for Johnny's Corner, a delicious rice bowl place that I chose to highlight because it has incredibly fresh fish, unique flavor presentations and a filling balance of carbs, veggies and protein. Other wonderful places include Finn's Pizza, Boardwalk Fish and Chips, Carmen's Gelato, the Tickled Pear and Swell Taco. Prepare for most restaurants on the spit to host outdoor seating, so bring a jacket. For Spit indoor dining options that lean more towards dinner, Captain Patties and Lands End are perfect choices. In the town center, some great options are Latitude 49, Pho and Thai, Vida's Thai, The Bagel Shop, Two Sisters Bakery and Wild Honey Bistro :) For some fancier dinner options, consider Wasabis, Fat Olives (their pizza and Nona's salad are delicious) and The Kannery.
