Sarah has been frequenting this place since she was old enough to calculate how much "penny" candy she could buy with the dollar from her parents. Now that she's an adult, she treats herself to (or gets Mom to buy her) as much candy as she wants! Sarah (and Molly) recommend the FunDips and gummy sharks.
Nice coffee shop with seating in the garden.
Coffee, Breakfast, and Lunch spot.
About a 15-20 minute walk from downtown (right next to the Edgar Hotel). A bustling spot for weekday dinner or weekend lunch or dinner.
Longtime spot for breakfast or lunch in downtown Edgartown.
Austin's favorite! A fish market with a made-to-order seafood counter and outdoor picnic table seating in Vineyard Haven. Austin recommends a dozen oysters, clam chowder, and a whole lobster for lunch. Sarah recommends the fried shrimp platter.
Food, cocktails, and beer in an indoor-outdoor setting with lawn games. Lunch and Dinner. Located in between Edgartown and Oak Bluffs. Sarah recommends the Painkiller cocktail!
Very swanky restaurant upstairs, very swanky burger bar downstairs. We have been for the burgers many times. Try the truffle fries! Dinner only. Advanced reservations required.
Yummy spot with oysters, small plates, and mains by the downtown Edgartown bus stop (kind of an odd location, but good food!). Lunch and Dinner. Does not take reservations. Love the sriracha fries.
Hole-in-the-wall dirty spoon at the bottom of Main Street in Edgartown. Serves breakfast and lunch until 1:30. Particularly known for their breakfast sandwiches.
South Beach is located in Katama about 3 miles from town and has big waves. State Beach is a long stretch of beach along the road from Oak Bluffs to Edgartown. About 1-3 miles outside of town depending on how far down the beach you go. Smaller waves and (often) less wind.
Take the On Time Ferry from downtown Edgartown for a (very) short ride over to Chappaquiddick Island. Chappy is a nice spot for a bike ride out to Mytoi Garden and the Dike Bridge of Ted Kennedy notoriety. If you have a car, you can also check out Wasque, a remote beach where you can look at the water or fish, but do not swim! (very dangerous currents)
An awesome farmers market from 9-12 on Saturday. Accessible from Edgartown via car, hour-long bike ride, or VTA bus (take the Edgartown-West Tisbury bus to West Tisbury then the West Tisbury-Vineyard Haven bus and get off at Polly Hill Arboretum).
There are lots of fun walks/hikes in Edgartown and around the island. Check out Sheriffs Meadow Sanctuary in Edgartown and many others within an easy drive or bike. If you are on bikes, we recommend Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary, and if you have a car, we love Cedar Tree Neck and Quansoo Farm.
Wander around Ocean Park and the Gingerbread Cottages in Oak Bluffs! While you're there, you can grab a delicious lobster roll from The Lookout, Ice Cream from Ben and Bill's or a donut from Back Door Donuts! Oak Bluffs is an easy 5 mile bike or bus ride from Edgartown. Ocean Park is the large grassy area with the gazebo right on the water in Oak Bluffs. The Gingerbread Cottages cover a large area surrounding the Tabernacle behind Circuit Ave (just google map it :).
"Up Island" is the name for the southwest corner of the Vineyard and it lays claim to a hefty portion of the Island's natural beauty. It is accessible by car, VTA, or ambitious bikers. "Up Island" includes the towns of West Tisbury, Chilmark, and Aquinnah, as well as the fishing village of Menemsha. If you are looking for a lobster roll, Menemsha is a great spot. Alley's General Store in West Tisbury is worth a stop for fun gifts. Grey Barn in Chilmark has an awesome farm stand and very delicious cheese as well as bread and pastries in the morning. The red cliffs and red brick lighthouse you probably see when you google "Martha's Vineyard" are located in Aquinnah. Driving between these sights is perhaps the most enjoyable part of the journey. The rolling hills and peeks of ocean views are just beautiful!
