How We Met

It started with a trivia question..

"What is formless but also the sharpest thing on Earth?" That was the question from Austin’s Hinge profile that Nya answered incorrectly. If you guessed lava, you are also wrong. Water-fueled jets can actually cut diamonds. From there, the nerd fest began. After exchanging messages for a few weeks, they met for dinner at Original Thai where Nya proceeded to interrogate Austin...turns out he liked it. They caught the sunset, talked for hours, and ate Gypsy Gelato by the water and they have been inseparable ever since.

God in the Details

Shout out to Living Stones Church!

Austin started going to the 9am service a week prior to them meeting, and Nya was a regular at the 10:30am service, but their paths had never crossed. Their love for God became the bedrock for their friendship and now their marriage. Along the way, God guided the two together with subtle signs and wisdom. One of the firsts was when Austin asked Nya to be his girlfriend. They went down to the Outrigger to watch the manta rays and out of the blue, the song, "Everytime I Close My Eyes" by Babyface began to play. From there, the two continued to submit their relationship to God and pray for guidance which has come in the form of their amazing premarital counselors, random bees, and recurring scripture passages (Romans 15:13) amongst many other 'coincidences.'

Better Together

4.4 + 6.15 = 10.19

That's the math behind their wedding date and the sum of Austin and Nya's birthdays (just in case you were wondering). Austin and Nya bonded over their love of family, their values around financial freedom and entrepreneurial spirits, their ridiculous sense of humor, their passion for learning, their faith in God, and their commitment to working hard. Austin is patient and brings out her soft side. Nya is his peace and occasional kick in the butt, lighting fire beneath them both. He's the numbers guy and she's the planner. Not a day has gone by without a good morning text or a phone call, and Nya can’t remember the last time she opened her own car door or made herself a meal. The two complement each other, challenge one another, but most importantly, they have both become better together.
