Question

How should I spend my time?

Answer

If you arrive Thursday, take whatever time you have after checking in your hotel to wander the historic district. On Friday we encourage you to join the trip to Monte Alban and Friday evening is the Rehearsal Dinner to which all are invited. Sleep in on Saturday and save your energy for the wedding reception. Spend the day seeing the sights and markets of historic Oaxaca. The ceremony starts at 4:00 at the Quinta Real hotel. Sunday is your day to relax and recoup and recover if you've been up all night. However, if you saved some energy you might want to check out a palenque (Mezcal distillery) or go to a tasting.

Question

What's the difference between tequila and mescal?

Answer

Tequila is a kind of mezcal like bourbon is a kind of whiskey.

Question

What's the elevation in Oaxaca?

Answer

5,102 feet which is mile high, just like Denver, so hydrate with water and not mezcal the first 24 hours.

Question

What's Oaxaca known for?

Answer

According to Zach Rabinor, CEO of Journey Mexico, Oaxaca's rising popularity is due to its "exquisite architecture, living indigenous culture, spectacular Zapotec and Mixtec archaeological sites, to-die-for cuisine and some of the most exceptional artisans in all of Mexico."
