Wedding Party

We'd like to take this opportunity to introduce you to our lovely wedding party! Our three bridesmaids and three groomsmen are all people who play important roles in our lives and we are so happy and thankful to have them standing by our side on our big day. :)

Brook

Maid of Honor

For those of you who don't know, Brook is my older, equally weird, sister! Growing up, I constantly followed her around and wanted to do everything that she did (while she typically wanted nothing to do with me). While I begged her to be my friend, she spent her time plotting against me, most notably by hiding my beloved Mulan doll which I searched for in tears for hours until she "conveniently" found it hours later. But the older we got, the more and more I won Brook over and now she counts the minutes until she gets to hangout with me again 😜. All jokes aside, Brook is not only my sister, but one of my best friends. I feel so lucky to have a sister who loves me so much and makes me laugh so hard (and gives me unlimited head scratches and pickles). I am so happy Brook is my maid of honor and that I will have her standing by my side at the altar, just as she has done through all the ups and downs that life has thrown my way to date. I love you Brookie!

David

Best Man

I met David, when he moved to Wendlingen (my home-town) in second grade. However, our friendship almost ended over destroyed tulips in his mother's garden when we were just 7 years old. Thankfully, our friendship survived this critical moment and we continued to spend almost every day after school together growing up. Our favorite past time activity was to compete with each other. One of these competitions was the board game Carcassonne. I would even consider us to be in the top 100 players in Germany, due to our constant battle for the win. I am who I am today because of David. We pushed each other in school by always trying to be better than each other (could be toxic, but it definitely worked for us). And even after tenth grade, when I went to the US for a year of High School and David left for another school, our friendship stayed strong and David continues to be one of the most important people in my life - something I am really thankful for. I can truley say, that many of my best memories include trips and activities with David. To many more years of memories like that - including having you stand by my side at the wedding.

Melanie

Bridesmaid

Melanie is my oldest best friend, who I met when I was only 5 years old in Kindergarten! Ever since we were little, she has been my go-to friend for everything - both laughter and a shoulder to cry on. As kids, we were practically tied at the hip, annoying my siblings together, (unknowingly) stealing construction supplies from my neighbors, camping in my backyard and planning our futures together. As we grew up and started having different interests, we still were always each other's #1's and our nerdy sides enjoyed doing homework and projects together during lunch time (I promise we had other friends as well haha). And as we got older and had options to go out and party the night away, we still always preferred a night in together eating Chinese food, drinking milkshakes (despite Mel's intolerance to lactose) and having both deep and silly conversations late into the night, until Melanie inevitably falls asleep mid conversation. Now although we are continents apart, she is still like a sister to me and talking with her always feels like a piece of home, no matter how much time has passed! I am beyond thrilled to have you as a bridesmaid on my big day Mel, just like we have dreamed about for over 20 years <3

Fabian

Groomsman

Although Fabian and I have known each other for a long time (ever since track and field club), we only became really close during a cross country road-trip after my civil service in the US. Fabian and I were placed in the same class after I came back from my High-School year in the US. That's when we started to do more and more things together. At the end of my voluntary service in the US in 2012, Fabian reached out asking if I would like to take the long trip together and am happy that I agreed, because this led to many more wonderful trips. Fabian, also called Ahrens, is definitely the pro-active person in our friendship and I know that without him taking the lead the past years, I would have probably not been on a single trip with him and missed out on so many great experiences. Our first trip together was rough at times, as I can be a difficult person (him too - don't even think he is a saint) and spending 24-7 together for 4 weeks can take its toll. But I am happy our friendship sustained these challenges and we continued to take more trips together including Budapest and an exploration trip through Russia in 2019. Thanks for being my "elderly" and wise travel and exploration buddy and for happily sharing your food with me (unlike Austin). I can’t wait to share my wedding day (and meal) with you!

Alison

Bridesmaid

Alison is my other best friend, who entered my life just a few years after Melanie, when she invited me to play "cats" with her on the playground. Growing up we always had big dreams for our careers, teaming up on ideas like starting a fashion business together (A&A fashions), writing a magazine, becoming musicians (our number one hit was named "Rumors"), and our favorite career path - being match makers at our Middle School (that one did not end so well). Anyone who knows me, has most definitely heard Alison's name, as she is my fun and crazy bestie who always provides a good time and a funny story. While she has very little geographical knowledge, she is a walking encyclopedia for everyone from our hometown (and the 5 mile surrounding radius). Even though I now live thousands of miles away, each time we talk it truly feels like no time has passed... because in reality no time has passed - Alison calls me at least once a week and our calls last for hours! Alison also loves to Facetime together with Flo, whether he is giving her life advice or scolding her for checking her phone while the three of us play cards over Zoom. I'm so so happy to have you as a bridesmaid, Ali, even if you will trying to get Flo to finally tell you he loves you too the whole weekend. ;)

Asmus

Groomsman

I met Asmus in my second semester at the University of Stuttgart. The start of our friendship was rough - a northern German from Plön, trying to master the Swabian dialect. Fast forward, 5 years living in the land of the enemy, now it is hard to even tell Asmus is not a true "Schwäbischer Kerle". Usually after class (okay, even while we should have still been in class) we went over to Asmus’ apartment to hang out or study and to enjoy a student meal (frozen pizza, which was pimped with additional cheese and meat - I know, we are gourmets). This is also the birth-place of the legendary 8000 calories Tortillia Lasagna. We liked each other so much, that we even started spent time together at work at the Institute of Aircraft Design. There we designed and built skis and surfboards together - this almost resulted in our made up company "Badebrett" - (I know, original). Our yearly trips to France for the university surf competition are another highlight. There I found out that we actually might have a chance in a career as musicians, when we free-styled rap lines and recorded those on a MP3 player. After college we continued being close. Asmus lives in Munich, so now we try to see each other for a weekly dip in the Isar and cooking sessions with our girls. Thanks for being my creative counterpart during our time at college and beyond. Let's hope our bromance won't get Austin too jealous at the wedding. :-*
