We first met at a mutual acquaintance's birthday dinner at the ever-so-romantic Pittsburg, KS Applebee's. However, we didn't get to know each other until nearly a year later and didn't officially start dating until ANOTHER year after that. What started as catching eyes across the room developed slowly into a relationship founded on trust, laughter, and true friendship. Though we each have our own version of events that led to how we ACTUALLY got together (*cough cough* Chelsie is right *cough*), there's no doubt that what we share now is nothing short of extraordinary. Since we've been together, we've shared countless adventures and are looking forward to the life that we're building together. We're so glad you're here to be part of our story.
Austin had reminded me so many times leading up to the Cancun trip to bring fancy clothes for an event that ARCO was hosting while we were there. He'd even bought a suit that he refused to show me ahead of time which I'll admit I thought was odd but I digress. The night before, which was our first night at the resort, he told me we'd be going on a double date with one of his coworkers and his wife before the fancy event and that we wouldn't have time to change before so we'd be dressing up for it. Nothing suspicious there. The next morning, he got up at 6 A.M. to "watch the sunrise" which apparently was code for "I'm scoping out a good proposal spot with a good view." He told me to be ready by 2 P.M. so I really threw him for a loop when I was ready a little after 1 P.M. He'll be the first to tell you that under normal circumstances, I'm rarely early. We sat in the hotel room for a little bit, and I noticed he seemed a little antsy. He said we could walk down there a little early to meet them, so I took his arm and walked with him to an overlook of the beach. I remember wondering how he was managing in a suit because it was pretty hot out. We stood there for a moment, taking in the view, and says to me "So I lied to you." Me, confused, responded with "Uh what do you mean? Lied about what?" Instead of answering he pointed to something behind me. I turned, saw nothing, and when I turned back, he was down on one knee with a beautiful and unique sparkling ring presented to me. He asked me to marry him, and when I finally picked my jaw off the ground, I said yes, he slid the ring onto my finger, and thus began a new chapter in our relationship. Did I mention photographer came out of nowhere?? (Austin had discreetly booked him the night before)
