Alyssa made the move to New Hampshire from Rhode Island to begin a new nursing job. Shortly after moving, by a slim chance of being in the same radius of one another, Austen & Alyssa happened to both swipe right and match on a dating app. At that point they lived just about 2 hours away from one another, so a date didn't seem to make the most sense at the time (or so Alyssa thought). But over the next few months, Austen and Alyssa would occasionally spark conversations with one another just to check in.
Austen finally got Alyssa to put the distance aside and give things a chance with a date. They each drove 50 minutes to meet halfway in Ludlow, VT for dinner at Mr. Darcy's. With a good beer, fried pickles and a burger, nerves immediately turned into a feeling of comfort, and that date was just the beginning of it all.
The next few years included a lot of weekends at each others place, local adventures, and dinner dates. With a lot of great memories, also came some of the most difficult times we could ever imagine. Some of our core memories from that time included our cross-country road trip from CO to VT in a minivan with Trudy, Sunday morning walks through the woods with our coffee and pups, and our weekend camping trips at Merck Forest.
After Austen is contacted by a friend's neighbor to mention they are thinking of selling their home, Austen and Alyssa go to see yet another home on a whim (after a 2 year search). This time was much different, they immediately fell in love. It checked all of the boxes, but most importantly had our Sunday morning trails right in the backyard. Finally leaving the long distance chapter behind, the perfect home allowed life to become everything we wanted it to be and more.
