In January 2017, Kat joined Greg's co-ed soccer team, New Kicks on the Block, through a mutual friend. But they could have met when Greg was working for Mississauga hydro and serviced the Meadowvale fast food restaurant Kat worked at during high school. They could have met at karaoke night at the Milton pub, Ned Devine's. They may have met on a Thursday night at Sneaky Dees or the Monarch Tavern when Greg started working on Queen Street and Kat was studying at the University of Toronto. They might have crossed paths any number of times in downtown Toronto, both refusing to travel north of Bloor Street as they insisted it was too far (at the time). But they definitely met at soccer in 2017. They quickly became friends: celebrating one another's milestones, watching all the major soccer matches and drinking many pints together. It was when they were friends that they discovered that they grew up ten minutes down Derry Road from each another. They found out that they both became vegetarians in high school. They discovered that both their dads work in insurance, and both their moms are retired teachers who volunteer in hospitals. They were just friends when they uncovered that they both wanted the same first dance song at their weddings, not yet knowing it would be the same wedding. Eventually, they caught feelings at Three Speed on Bloor West. They had their first date at Henrietta Lane in the east end. They had their first kiss in a karaoke bar on College Street that no longer exists. They've biked out to Mimico and all the way to RC Harris in Scarborough. They share an apartment on Dupont and got engaged on the Baldwin Steps near Casa Loma. They will be married on University Avenue. Their love story maps Toronto (well... south of St. Clair at least).
