In lieu of a gift registry, please consider the Asian tradition of giving a red envelope ("li xi") with cash or a check. Red is an auspicious, lucky color in Vietnamese culture, and the giving of red envelopes is a way to symbolically bestow happiness, luck, and good wishes to the couple.
Once seated for dinner, the newlyweds and their parents will greet each table ("chao ban") to give thanks to guests who have come to their wedding and collect red envelopes or handwritten cards.
Please remember to put your name on your envelope so we can give proper thanks!
