How We Met

10/17/2017

Taehoon and I found each other on Coffee Meets Bagel in October 2017. Our first date was at the Ginger Man, where it was love at first site. I remember walking up to him and he froze for a second. I wasn’t sure why, but he later told me it was because he thought I was beautiful. We sat on the patio surrounded by warm hanging lights for hours enjoying beers and talking about our shared love of cooking. We had a hard time saying goodbye at the end of the night, so he walked me back to my car where we had our first kiss. From there, we spent the next few weeks exploring Lower Greenville, I made him my signature whiskey sour, and he cooked me many delicious meals. On November 21, 2017 he surprised me in the candlelight by singing Maroon 5's “Girls Like You” with his guitar, then asked me to be his girlfriend.

The Proposal

3/30/2019

It was on March 30th, 2019 when I proposed to her at a local park. The plan was to have her come to our friends’ “dog’s birthday party”, so we’d take Herman and dress picturesque. I also told her I’d be at a group meeting all day as my alibi. We set up the teepee, hung the lights, and readied the cameras to capture the moment that will change our lives forever. With my sweaty palm, I called her to tell her to park at a specific street parking. It was crucial she parked at the FRONT of the park to avoid seeing me hide behind a wall. But of course, Audrey parked at the BACK of the park instead, because that’s life. My mind goes blank. I tried to convince her, saying parking at the front is a shorter walk to the party. She stayed adamant about her spot, because it made her feel safer. I can’t argue with that. Audrey 1, Taehoon 0. Afraid of getting caught, I dashed under a bridge directly under where she parked. Confused to hear my breathing and the suspicious stomping, she asked, “What was that?” In my fight or flight moment I said, “Just… come to the party!” then hung up. At this point, I had to rely on the sound of Herman’s nametags clinking to know they’d passed without seeing me. I’ve never loved our boy’s trotting more. I returned to hide behind the wall. Everything is back now… until it wasn’t. As she entered the park, she saw a teepee clearly made for her. She stopped a bit to stare, then kept walking past it, thinking it was for someone else. Behind the wall, I sensed something’s gone wrong—too quiet. I looked to my friend, Denny, hiding in a ditch filming. His eyes screamed “Crisis!” so I yelled, “Go to the teepee!” This was it. This was when I step up to her. I took a deep breath and told myself “you got this”. I could see her silhouette reading the letter I wrote to her. She looked up to see me as I was approaching her. It was obvious to everyone at this point. I kneeled. I said a few things. And she said yes!

The Civil Ceremony

4/24/2019

We had a small and intimate civil ceremony in Denton, TX last April. It was beautifully short and simple, and we saved our personal vows and ring exchange for later so we could share the moment with all our friends and family.

What's to Come

10/3/2021

Given this unique and uncertain time, Audrey and I decided to push our date to 2021. Our hope is this will give enough time for things to calm down so all our guests can freely enjoy themselves at our wedding. Our new date will be 10/3/2021. Thank you for being flexible with us and we are so excited to celebrate our marriage with our most important people!
