Spitalfields Market is a foodies paradise and just around the corner is the cutest flower market & Brick Lane. You've probably heard of Kew Gardens, London's botanical gardens, but why not put your ticket price towards some flowers for yourself at the Columbia Road Flower Market (only open Sundays). And if you like Indian food, you have to check out Brick Lane, it's world famous! Inside tip- all of these are right by Liverpool tube/train station where you will be catching your train to/from Bury if you want to line something up on your way out/into London. Did someone say hangover food?!
Why not see a show on the West End while you're in town! There are loads to choose from but we can personally recommend- Aladdin Hamilton Le Miserables Lion King The Cursed Child Wicked Remember to book these well in advance.
This brewery dates back to the 18th Century and is found in the heart of Nick's home town. Greene King has become one of the most prominent breweries in the country, with their speciality being their IPA. Watch out though, an IPA in the UK much more like an American Amber Ale. This is a great activity to explore some more local history and you're shown round by some genuine beer lovers.
Looking to explore the English countryside? Lavenham is a lovely village 20 minutes outside of Bury, for those looking for more of a cross country trip and renting a car. You'll enjoy strolling the village and be sure to stop into The Swan for lunch, tea, spa, or all of the above! Fun fact for the Harry Potter fans, this is where Godric's Hollow was filmed.
One of the best forms of travel in the UK is by train. From London, you can get an international train through the Eurotunnel or to lots of other areas of the UK. Here are some of the best places, with the approximate travel times, to help with your trip planning: - Paris - 2.5 hours - Bruges - 3.5 hours - Amsterdam - 4 hours - Bath - 2 hours - Edinburgh - 5 hours
If you're looking to do some exploring whilst across the pond, London has hundreds of direct flights into European cities. We have explored plenty of them ourselves so below are the best of the bunch: - Barcalona, Spain - Rome, Italy - Budapest, Hungary - Prague, Czech Republic - Vienna, Austria - Greek Islands, Greece If you book far enough in advance, the flights can be nice and cheap. (For a benchmark, Nick has recently booked return flights to Bordeaux, France for approx $100.) HOT TIP - look to combine flights with local trains for the potential to combine different countries/cities on the same trip. European train systems are highly efficient as well as inexpensive. If you have the time, then getting the trains to lots of locations could make the trip of a lifetime.
