We met through our mutual friend, Sasha, at a coffee shop in Silver Lake, CA. When we met each other we immediately locked eyes and once we started speaking with one another, it became apparent that the connection was strong. We could not have been more opposite in every way, but they say, ‘when you know, you just know’ and for us, that proved to be true. We always say that the universe was not ready for us to meet until we were further along in life and it seems as though all of those life lessons paid off and led us to each other. We believe that we are soulmates.
Our first date was at Moonlight Rollerway in Los Angeles, a local 70s-inspired rollerskating rink. If you know of this place then you definitely get the vibe. We didn’t sleep that night but instead talked for hours about our lives, families, ambitions, and fears. It was like our values just completely lined up with one another. We don’t think it could have been a better first date.
Norel proposed to Aubrey on June 12, 2021, on top of the Aerial Tramway in Palm Springs, CA. Norel got down on one knee and spectators cheered and clapped when Aubrey said, “yes!” Immediately following the proposal, Norel organized a 32-person surprise engagement dinner in Palm Springs where she flew in the family and invited their closest friends. Aubrey was shocked and often says that she ‘ugly cried’ when she saw everyone there to congratulate us. It was a beautiful moment of family, love, and a just prelude to our wedding in 2022.
We were in Sedona, Arizona, and had just hiked to the top of Devil’s Bridge Trailhead. Being there felt like we were on top of the world. We sat there for a while watching the sunset, turned to each other, and smiled. We knew then that we never wanted to be apart, that we were meant to be.
