Driving Information
There are tolls on many of the freeway systems. Make sure to have colones (Costa-Rican currency) if you plan to rent a car. Typically tolls cost anywhere from 100-500 colones ($0.20-$1.00). When you encounter a toll booth, make sure you drive through the correct lane. Use the the manual lane (paying with cash) instead of the exclusivo (paying with a pass). Remember to keep the ticket from the tolls.

It is recommended to either rent a car during your visit or use Uber. It is recommended to NOT use taxis as they typically charge more. In an Uber, make sure one member of your party is sitting in the front seat next to the driver.

Gratuity is always included in your restaurant bill, so there is no need to tip on top of your bill. Have change in hand for parking lot attendants (typically 100-300 colones).
