In August 2019, we met at a friend’s monthly poker game. While Chelsea won the money, Chris won the night by getting her number. Wasting no time, a first date was set up the following day. Thank goodness Chelsea’s roommate convinced her to go. As the dates and monthly poker games continued, our love grew. Fast forward to Thanksgiving and we both met each other’s families for the first time. While we both knew we loved each other beforehand, this time proved pivotal... Seeing how each of us cared for and respected our parents, and how our siblings were our best friends instilled a foundational understanding of our core values. In March 2020, we had prepared to create a shared space to live together when the world went into lockdown. Renovating our condo taught us many valuable lessons in partnership and paved the way for the biggest commitment for either of us to date. Proposal and the Caesar Salad. Getting a wedding ring without tipping off your partner when you live in a shared apartment while sheltering in place proved dang near impossible. Even more so if you get a Caesar salad while mysteriously out for an afternoon and DON’T OFFER to get one for your partner. In quite possibly the worst telegraphed proposal ever, Chris vetoed a Friendsgiving on a perfectly good Saturday and instead convinced Chelsea to get full mani-pedis and all dressed up to go to the beach without any apparent reason. Thankfully, Chelsea went along for the ride and said yes as Chris dropped to one knee over a perfect beach picnic set up by friend and entrepreneur (who is also planning the wedding) Krissy Allegra. One long ‘gap year’ filled with uncertainty, vaccines, and boosters, and were finally so excited to be able to lock in a date and time to celebrate with all of you, the friends and family who helped shape us into who we are today, and many of whom directly led to us meeting and falling in love.
