How We Met

Love at First Breadstick

We met at Olive Garden in New Braunfels, Texas, in a moment that was anything but romantic. I had just transferred and was overwhelmed, trying to find my footing in a restaurant where everyone assumed I already knew what I was doing. After a difficult start, I stepped away to catch my breath—and that’s when Ian walked in and asked if I was new. My response wasn’t graceful ("Yes I'm F****** new"), but it was honest, and somehow it was the beginning of everything. Later that night, I apologized, and something quietly changed. We talked, laughed, and discovered how easily we connected—through shared humor, music we both loved, and a natural pull toward adventure. What started as a chaotic workday became the foundation of something steady, comforting, and unexpected. Over the years, that connection has deepened through late nights, shared music, laughter, and a life built side by side. After eleven years together, we’re getting married—not because our love needed redefining, but because we already know who we are together, and we choose that life, and each other, every day.
