Smuggler Mountain Trail is a beloved local hike just minutes from downtown Aspen. The trail is a steady uphill walk to a scenic overlook with beautiful views of the town and surrounding peaks. It’s about 1.5 miles each way and usually takes 45–75 minutes round-trip. If you’re looking to enjoy fresh mountain air and take in the Aspen skyline, this is a wonderful and approachable option. Pro Tip: We recommend downloading the app AllTrails to see the route to Smuggler and all the other hikes Aspen has to offer. It's a great app with a lot of cool functionality.
Our favorite breakfast spot in Aspen. We come every trip! The menu is fresh and health-focused, with organic ingredients and bright, clean flavors. Think smoothies, nourishing bowls, and healthy scrambles.
A stylish breakfast/brunch spot. If you’re looking to linger a bit or treat yourself to something slightly elevated, this is a smart pick.
Please note that many of these restaurants book up quickly. Aspen is a small town with a very lively dining scene, and tables tend to fill quickly—especially on weekends. Reservations in advance are highly encouraged!
Largely considered one of Aspen’s premier dining experiences, this spot is known for its acclaimed wine list and seasonally inspired menu. Though every dish impresses, we always find ourselves returning to the John Dory and Smoked Elk — both are truly exceptional.
