Our current wedding plans are based on the COVID-19 vaccine being available to all our adult guests in advance of August 2021. We'll continue to monitor the situation closely and may need to make additional adjustments. Thank you for understanding!
This is a family-only affair, so expect a little over 30 guests! It's important to us that our families have the opportunity to spend quality time with each other. Yes, our nieces and nephews are absolutely invited and are listed on the invitations. Please ask us about extended family, family friends, or other guests you are unsure about first. We have strict limitations on how many guests we can have in the venue.
This is a semi-formal event and we'll be taking some family photos, so preferably no blue jeans. We suggest summer or light cocktail dresses, or slacks and button downs. But at the end of the day, if something more casual is going to make you happier, wear that. We just want you there! Please note that the ceremony (weather permitting) will be held outdoors in the private meadow next to the Lodge. We don't recommend thin heels given the grassy terrain.
The wedding ceremony will be held at 5:00pm in the private meadow next to Bascom Lodge. Please head there when you arrive. At 5:30pm we'll all take family photos (led by our wonderful photographer Elyse). 5:30pm-6:50pm is appetizer "hour". Head to the private enclosed porch inside Bascom Lodge for some light bites, wine, beer, and soft drinks. We encourage everyone to explore the surrounding grounds as well - Mt. Greylock is a beautiful, special place! Everyone should be back at the enclosed porch around 6:50pm, as dinner is served promptly at 7:00pm. There won't be a traditional wedding dj/dance floor set up. Expect beautiful views, a relaxed meal, and a little music.
Information coming soon on the Travel & Accommodations tab.
Yes. You can book a room directly with Bascom Lodge through their website. However, we are choosing not to stay there. Bascom Lodge is a lodge that primarily caters to long distance hikers on the Appalachian Trail. As such, accommodations are reportedly clean but rustic - meaning there are no conveniences like television or central air and bathrooms are shared with other guests.
No. It rarely gets hot on the top of Mt. Greylock, it's a stone building, and our wedding will be held in the evening. Average temperatures for our wedding date at that location are in the 70s. Each panel of the enclosed porch has a sliding window that can be opened for cool breezes, and we are able to use fans. All that said, if you are a person who is particularly concerned about heat, please keep your eyes on the weather, dress accordingly, and take additional measures (like carrying extra water) to make yourself comfortable.
No, we haven't rented the entire property. We have rented the private enclosed porch for the reception, which will be separated from other Bascom Lodge dining and hotel guests. The ceremony is in a private meadow.
Cell phone reception is not guaranteed at Mt. Greylock or in surrounding towns in western Massachusetts. Be sure to share the landline number of where you're staying with other guests ahead of time if you are not staying in the same hotel but know you would like to meet up. This is important if you want to make plans to get together for meals, explore the area, and in case of emergency. Pretend you are traveling back in time pre-cell phones and plan accordingly. :)
