Ashton and Andrew first crossed paths at Wye Hill in downtown Raleigh during what was intended to be a girls’ night. When a few coworkers joined in, one friend asked if her then-boyfriend (now husband) could stop by and bring his roommate, Andrew. A month later, that same mutual friend took Andrew out for a night in Raleigh to meet some “cute single friends.” While they were bouncing between bars, they unexpectedly ran into Ashton, who just happened to be out that night. Andrew assumed she was the cute single friend, and they chatted all night. Fast-forward to March 31, 2022. Andrew took Ashton on their first official date for her birthday to get her favorite cuisine (Mexican food and margaritas). The next day, he took her for a stroll around Duke Gardens, where he would eventually propose three years later!
