Matt & I met in the summer of 2014, I was staying with one of my best friends Emma and little did I know my future husband was right next door staying with his grandparents. Now most people who know Matt & I would tell you they always knew we’d end up together. Throughout every up and down we have always come out on top, together. We grew up, we grew apart, and after a little time apart we came back together and have built a foundation to grow on with each other. Our first date when we got back together in the summer of 2018, Matt decided we were going to Beanblossom dragway for a no prep drag race, familiar to most as War in the Woods, now at the time I had no idea what he was getting me into nor that it would become such a big part of our story from that day moving forward. That was the first War in the Woods race they put on there in July of 2018 and that night we made a lot of memories, we laughed, we talked, we lived in that moment as if nothing else mattered, we both knew without a doubt that night we still did and had always loved each other. Fast forward to 6 years later May 31st 2024, War in the Woods # 10, we packed up the car, left early, and went to get “our spot” at the drag strip just as we do every single year to go out to “our happy place”. But Matt had more planned for me that day other than just watching the races, he had been planning for what I now know was a very long time, to propose in that happy place of ours. We have laughed there, cried there, met some of the most awesome people who have now become our friends there, made endless memories, but most importantly it is now the spot marked as where we took the next step to our forever together, right there on that drag strip. May 31st 2024, we watched endless races as we always do and saw some of thee fastest & most talented individuals racing to come out on top & win, but as far as I was concerned I was the one walking away that night as the winner. And I thank God every single day, for the man he sent my way to create a life with, to love every day, to care for, and to go through every single day of life hand in hand with.
