How We Met Even though we grew up just ten minutes apart, our paths didn’t officially cross until years later at work in New York City. Looking back, though, we’re pretty sure the universe was having fun with us all along. We found out later that Matt had played soccer against Ashlyn’s brother for many years— and chances are she was cheering from the sidelines without realizing it. We also grew up attending more than a few of the same PNC country concerts. The signs were there, we just didn’t know it yet. Early Dating It took three years of working together before we finally lined things up and went on a first date. And in true Matt fashion, he figured after dragging his feet that long, he needed to go big—so he took Ashlyn to Aruba! Around the same time, Matt agreed to transfer to Miami to open a new office. That meant we had a long-distance start, but we didn’t let that slow us down. Ashlyn moved in after just two months of dating, then started flying back and forth once Matt relocated. We never spent more than 10 days apart… and we haven’t since. The Proposal Ashlyn thought she was headed to Matt’s sister’s bridal shower (which had supposedly been rescheduled due to a hurricane). With a fake invite in hand and instructions to wear all white, she showed up—completely unaware of what was coming. Instead of a shower, Matt brought her to a beautiful waterfall and got down on one knee. It took Ashlyn a minute to realize he wasn’t joking, but once she said yes, he surprised her with the best part: both of their families gathered together for a celebratory dinner. With three brothers scattered across the U.S. and a grandma up in Maine, it meant the world that everyone was there. Now From coworkers to life partners and most importantly PAWrents, we can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with all of you.
