The Chelan Valley and Washington State as a whole is known for its wines. Though you will get to enjoy one of Chelan's most popular wineries on Saturday for our special day, we highly recommend checking out some of the other wineries in the area. Some of our favorites include Tsillan Cellars (pronounced "Sha-lan"), Lake Chelan Winery and Benson Vineyards. Note these three wineries have food but not all do. Tscillan Cellars has an upscale restaurant named Sorrento's which you should make a reservation for in advance if you'd like to visit. Lake Chelan Winery has their BBQ in the vineyard experience that is first come, first serve on picnic tables and then Benson Vineyards has wood-fired grilled pizza.
There are several places to rent paddle-boards, kayaks and jet skis. If you are looking to paddle-board or kayak, we suggest going close to the beach or in the sound on the other side of the bridge that runs through town as the water is much calmer. Depending on the day, Lake Chelan can be a bit choppy from all the boats but the sound will be calm for even the most inexperienced paddle-boarders.
A summer visit to Lake Chelan would not be complete without a stop by this famous place for a burger, chicken fingers or their famous fries. Ashley recommends you order ahead on their website or call ahead versus walk-up, or drive-thru, as it can get very busy during lunch or dinnertime. 10/10, we recommend the fry sauce!
A quick FYI - There are several Mexican restaurants in the area that are local favorites. Do not sleep on these if you like Mexican food. Some of our top picks include Fonda Oaxaqueña and Marcela's Cocina Mexicana.
A true Dillon favorite for a morning breakfast sandwich. Lake Chelan Artisan Bakery has several breakfast sandwich options including bagels and burritos as well as many delicious pastries. They also serve sandwiches during lunchtime. We recommend going before 11 AM as this spot can get popular in the mornings.
Would it even be a weekend with us if we didn't point you to the nearest Starbucks?
Safeway is the grocery store in Downtown Chelan. They have a great prepared foods section as well. For those that aren't familiar, it is a grocery store chain, extremely similar to a Giant Eagle, Stop & Shop or a Publix but slightly smaller for the area.
